- I am currently researching installing OS X 10.13 High Sierra on unsupported Macs. I did the Sierra upgrade on a couple of MacPros 4,1 and it has worked excellently, after I did a firmware update patch to get it to read as a MacPro 5,1, so I am very optimistic on doing it again.

Apparently, anyone who gets a prompt to log-in into a Mac running High Sierra with multiple user accounts can simply enter ‘root’ as the username, leave the password field blank and hit the unlock button twice. That’s it, they’re in. And not just ‘in’ in, they have ‘root’ privileges on the system, making this a train wreck the size of Apple’s brand new spaceship campus. Except in this case, it’s Apple’s lack of attention to detail that made the news.

EDIT: Apple have finally patched this.
Huge vulnerability in mac’s new OSX. I recommend changing the password to the “root” just in case it is an intentional backdoor of sorts, but also just so randoms can’t log in to your computer.
